CHRISTMAS CAKE FESTIVAL at the International Tourism Fair in Belgrade

Christmas cake

This weekend, Belgrade will host a unique cultural and gastronomic event – the Christmas Cake Festival, called CNESNITZA, which will be held as part of the International Tourism Fair. The festival, organized by the Office for Cultural Diplomacy, will be held on Saturday in Hall 4, at the stand of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Christmas Cake Festival is an opportunity to promote, present, nurture, preserve and revive the richness, color and value of ritual bread as a common cultural heritage of many nations, communities and countries. In the Hall of the Zrenjanin National Museum, where the festival originally gathered local women’s associations and experts dealing with cultural heritage, the story of Christmas cake, ritual Christmas breads and garlic was told, demonstrating the cultural richness and diversity of our country.

On Saturday, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of Christmas cakes that have been passed down from generation to generation of various peoples for centuries and thus preserve the spirit of this holiday and tradition, connecting people of different nationalities such as Ruthenians, Serbs, Slovaks, Poles, Romanians, Cincars, Russians, Bunjevac and many others.

This event is not only a gastronomic feast but also a strong message about the importance of cultural heritage and its preservation. By participating in the International Tourism Fair of the Christmas Cake Festival, visitors are given an extraordinary opportunity to get to know the richness of not only Serbian culture and tradition, but also other nations and ethnic groups who live in these areas. Through this presentation, they will see how strong the cultural ties and understanding were among the peoples who have been celebrating this holiday for centuries.

We invite all citizens of Belgrade and guests of the city to join us on Saturday in Hall 4 and celebrate together the richness and diversity of our cultural heritage. Do not miss this unique opportunity to experience the magic of Christmas customs and to discover a part of Serbia’s cultural treasures through tastes and smells. See you at the Christmas Cake Festival!
